Guangzhou (also known as Canton or Kwangchow) is the third biggest city in China after Beijing and Shanghai and is the capital of the Guangdong province in South China.Guangzhou is located on the Pearl River and is about 120 kilometres (75 miles) north-northwest of Hong Kong and 145 km (90 mi) north of Macau. It is an important national transportation hub and trading port. The city with 12 million inhabitants has been founded in 214 BC. Guangzhou has been a springboard for trading, cultural exchanges, many revolutions and reforms, which shaped modern China.
There are more than 750 hostels (some are as big as a well established hotels), budget, cheap and luxury hotels in Guangzhou, most of them are situated at the Beijing Road in Haizhu Square Area, Shangshajiu Pedestrian Street Area, Tianhe District or Teemall or East Railway Station and the Pazhou Exhibition Center Area. Guangzhou has a sub-tropical climate with humidity levels and temperatures (up to 40 Celcius) at their highest in the summer.
